Toronto, Ont., August 9, 2016 – The University of St. Michael’s College announced today that it has partnered with the Shareholder Association for Research and Education (SHARE) to facilitate shareholder engagement dialogues with companies in its investment portfolio on a range of environmental, social and corporate governance issues. St. Michael’s will be joining more than 30 institutional investors from across Canada with combined assets under management of $14 billion who participate in SHARE’s engagement program.
“Shareholder engagement provides university pension and endowment funds and other institutional investors an opportunity to use their voices to encourage the companies they own to improve their policies and practices on pressing environmental, social and corporate governance issues,” says Kevin Thomas, SHARE’s Director of Shareholder Engagement. “These efforts not only bring benefits to individual investment portfolios but also to the economy and the environment we all share.”
