Doug is Department Leader, Global Affair and Workplace Issues at the Canadian National Office of the United Steelworkers, which represents workers across the country employed in diverse sectors of the economy.  Doug’s primary role is Executive Director of the Steelworkers Humanity Fund (a Canadian registered charity sponsored by the United Steelworkers Union). The SHF funds international development projects promoting poverty relief and human and labour rights.

Doug has also been chair of the board of trustees for the multi-employer Steelworkers Pension Plan for over 20 years, and a member of the Steering Committee of the Canadian Network on Corporate Accountability (CNCA) which is most well-know for its decade long campaign for a human rights ombudsperson to receive complaints from workers and communities impacted by Canadian mining operations overseas.
