SHARE, on behalf of The Pension Plan of the United Church of Canada, has filed a shareholder proposal at Shopify Inc., urging its board of directors to adopt a policy on the company’s responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its business and operations.
Ahead of Shopify’s annual general meeting on June 16, SHARE has posted the attached supplementary information for shareholders.
We argue that the company’s current AI-related policies and practices appear to be insufficient, and that it lags behind its peers in meeting internationally recognized standards.
