A Financial System that Empowers Indigenous Perspectives
SHARE leads shareholder engagement efforts in Canada encouraging companies to make tangible commitments to reconciliation, including implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations, and specifically Call to Action 92 on Business and Reconciliation.
As a result of this engagement, in recent years, Canadian companies have adopted Indigenous rights policies, made public commitments to respecting the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People and the principle of Free, Prior and Informed Consent. We have also seen companies begin reporting and setting targets for the employment and advancement of Indigenous people and procurement from Indigenous-owned businesses.
