18 Asset Management (“18 AM”) announced today that it is partnering with the Shareholder Association for Research and Education (“SHARE”) to facilitate shareholder engagement dialogues with companies in its investment portfolio on a range of environmental, social and corporate governance issues. 18 AM will be joining more than 50 institutional investors from across Canada with combined assets under management of $23 billion who participate in SHARE’s engagement program.
“Shareholder engagement is one more way that 18 Asset Management’s clients are receiving extra value for their investments,” says Kevin Thomas, CEO of SHARE. “When 18 Asset Management uses its voice to urge companies in its portfolios to improve policies and practices on pressing environmental, social and corporate governance issues, it not only brings benefits to individual investment portfolios but also to the economy and the environment we all share.”
“We are pleased to join SHARE and its broad group of institutional investors to act collectively on issues that are important to our clients,” says Jeff Brown, CEO of 18 AM. “Together, we are promoting best practices in areas like Indigenous reconciliation, diversity and inclusion, human rights, and tackling climate change. 18 AM is proud to be amplifying our voice by working with SHARE and other Canadian leaders to achieve positive outcomes for our clients and the world around us.”
