SHARE welcomes United Church of Canada Foundation as new partner in engagement program

SHARE is pleased to welcome the United Church of Canada Foundation, which has joined the United Church of Canada Pension Plan and the United Church of Canada treasury as a client of SHARE’s engagement program.

“It is vitally important that our investments match our values. Joining SHARE’s engagement program is an excellent way for us to ensure that our assets are doing good — just as our grants are — and that we are living up to our goal of building a better world.”

Sarah Charters, President, United Church of Canada Foundation

The United Church of Canada Foundation’s purpose is to foster deep spirituality, bold discipleship and daring justice by attracting and deploying financial resources. Through capacity-building, convening, granting and careful stewardship of funds entrusted to the foundation, it supports various UCC congregations, ministries and programs.

“It is vitally important that our investments match our values. Joining SHARE’s engagement program is an excellent way for us to ensure that our assets are doing good — just as our grants are — and that we are living up to our goal of building a better world,” said Sarah Charters, President of The United Church of Canada Foundation.

By leveraging the combined influence of SHARE’s network of Canadian institutional investors, including foundations, universities, pension funds and Indigenous trusts, the UCC Foundation can drive change through strategic shareholder advocacy in sectors where engagement can have the greatest impact. Through SHARE’s engagement program, the Foundation can ensure that investments are values-aligned with its mission of helping to create a more just planet.

“We are looking forward to working with the United Church of Canada Foundation, and welcome them as members of the SHARE engagement program,” said Sarah Couturier-Tanoh, Director of Shareholder Advocacy. “The United Church of Canada, through their Pension and treasury funds, have long shown leadership in responsible investment, and I am excited to see their influence and leadership continue to grow with the additional partnership of the Foundation.”
